North East Brazil
Brazil is a huge country by any standards and as Brazil stands out against other countries as a great place in which to invest, the northeast of Brazil stands out within the country as the “icing on the cake”.
Way before talk about the FIFA world Cup and the Olympics, the northeast region of Brazil was already booming. Prices have in fact been on the increase since the beginning of the century. Natal was the first city to generate interest from the international market in the early 90’s and between 2002 and 2005 numerous building projects transformed the coastline and beachfronts. However the international volume growth of visitors has dropped in recent years as more appealing and cheaper areas have entered the market.
Northeast Brazil has always attracted national tourists and is in fact the largest tourist destination for Brazilians. Ceara state was for decades the poor cousin of Brazil, as it was removed from the major cities due to inadequate transport links. Industry never reached the state, which left farming and fishing as the predominant industries. Since major infrastructure changes began to appear a decade or so ago, the area immediately began to attract wealthy Brazilians from other areas of the country. Areas around Fortaleza started to evolve from small fishing villages, frequented on weekends by locals to bustling towns with a larger appeal.
With the opening of the Pinto Martins International airport extension in 1997 overseas tourists began to discover the majestic coastline and the lifestyle that northeast Brazil has to offer. With the new up-grade due for completion in 2013, the airport will be more than ready for the World Cup tourists
